A Little Creativity + the Number “44” = Heirloom

I just love creative gift giving ideas! It is seriously so much fun to design for people who are creative themselves because they always come to me with interesting ideas. The results are always beautiful, meaningful elements that are fused together into a final, elegant piece. This is how Heirlooms are created!

Earlier this month, my former colleague referred a client to me. Elizabeth came with an idea and a very short time frame. Her girlfriend’s birthday was two weeks away and she wanted diamond earrings as a gift. Luckily, I am a master at working under pressure.

A creative person herself, Elizabeth didn’t want just any diamond earrings… she had a really unique idea. Her partner, Cathy had been joking around about wanting diamond earrings for years. As a woman, jokes are often real desires, right? Elizabeth decided that now was the time. Cathy was turning 44 and they had been together for 14 years, so why not? Although Elizabeth wanted to give Cathy diamond earrings, she didn’t want to go with run of the mill studs. She insisted on excellent quality diamonds and 4 stones on each ear symbolizing the number “44.”

With that information, I came in and designed these gorgeous, 18K gold and diamond studs.

Each stud boasts four .12 carat diamonds (VS, G-H color) totaling .96 TCW. The details are my favorite part. Just for the wearer, I created a gorgeous filigree floral motif which connects the posts to on the back of the earrings.

These diamond studs are unique and have so much meaning. I am pretty sure that Cathy will be wearing these every day for a very long time.

Tracy also designed a custom piece for me for my 50th birthday. We reused diamonds and with a bit of creativity Tracy came up with 5 organic designs for my “net of life” necklace. I chose my favorite, Flowing, not perfect yet catching jewels. I wore it today and absolutely love my piece. Always get compliments.

The process was as organic as the results.

    Thanks Tracy!
