Oscars Jewelry to Die For: 2015 Edition

The Oscar’s have been the beating heart of all things hollywood glamour, and last night was no different! Neil Patrick Harris magician skits aside, the Academy Awards red carpet and the magic of the movies have always been such an inspiration for me. While every fine jewelry designer has a special place in her heart for, say, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, 2015 actually brought quite a few inspiring films to fruition. Most importantly, my favorite red carpet trend – dresses as jewelry – is back! Here are my favorite looks from the 87th Academy Awards!

When a pearl-encrusted evening gown is worn by Hollywood’s most fashionable new actress, you can bet I’m going to gush about it! This Calvin Klein gown has the perfect balance of precise beading details and pearls seemingly nonchalantly draped around the actress. My favorite dresses-as-jewelry trend was first pioneered by Lupita at the 2014 Met Gala — I’m happy to report the seamless jewelry and dress combination is back and here to stay!

Felicity Jones

This best actress nom certainly took Lupita’s lead: Felicity’s Alexander McQueen bodice was covered in those gorgeous pearls. The cool shade of gray really set gave this actress a more modern take on the look, and she seriously deserves a compliment for her bracelet choice. Now THAT is how you pair jewelry!

Emma Stone

If you scroll up, you’ll notice drop earrings seems to be all the rage at the 2015 Oscars. But not Emma Stone. Forever a little off-the-beaten path (which is why I love her!), Emma opted to draw attention to her slender arms. This girl can pull off the hardest hues of green with ease! And on top of it all, look at those gorgeous hammered bracelets! They don’t distract from the stunning gown at all, but I totally appreciate the simple touch of metal against chartreuse.

America Ferrera

While I LOVE this mermaid-toned dress, let’s be honest: America Ferrera’s look this Academy Awards was ALL about the jewelry. She totally built her jewelry around the stunning hardware at the waist of her dress, and let me just say that silver and turquoise scheme works wonders. She chose to go lighter on the hands, only choosing rings with diamonds and white gold, and then worked her way up to those STUNNING turquoise statement earrings. If you’re looking for a Spring 2015 look, this is it!

Speaking of turquoise… Talk about a statement necklace! This look was completely centered on showing off that gorgeous piece of jewelry. If you look closely, you’ll notice there’s actually quite a lot of beading going on!

Where does the dress end and the necklace begin? Anyone venture to guess? Because I can’t. This seamless blend of jewelry and evening wear is not exactly what I expected from a Scar-Jo and Versace pairing, but in retrospect makes all the sense in the world. And is it just me, or do I spy a stud-on-one-ear teardrop-on-the-other earring trend?

Anna Kendrick

This gal had quite a few Oscar looks last night due to her musical performances and red carpet walks. Anna Kendrick is the epitome of young and put-together. Her dress, lipstick, and blush – all the same shade of delightful coral. The hardware of the halter neckline seems to be combination of beading and white gold, and those rectangular diamond earrings have the perfect cut. If only we could all be so perfectly matched!

This powerhouse actress had such a big year in 2014, the 2015 Oscar’s must have been a piece of cake. Beyond the luscious hue of navy and curvy silhouette  that just oozes Old Hollywood, take a look at that necklace! Diamonds really are a girls’ best friend.

Laura Dern

Though Laura Dern truly became famous in the 90’s, I’ve always gotten a Stevie Nicks kinda vibe from her. Even though this Alberta Ferretti design has such an intricate, modern feel to it, Laura chose a pendant necklace and flowing hairstyle to make it her own. And, if there was ever a dress to feature the harmony between jewelry and fashion, this would be it!

Gwyneth Paltrow

Oh. My. Gosh. I just HAD to put Gwyneth Paltrow as the finale. While that literally rose-cut shoulder is appealing, those ruby statement earrings are truly TO DIE FOR. Smooth, sleek, and just plan fun!

As always, if you just HAVE to have jewelry fit for the likes of a gal like Viola, head over here and let’s get the process started!
