I’ve been so excited about this and can’t wait to share more about the school we built in Kenya.

This past year, along with a group of fellow entrepreneurs (and your support), I committed to building a school in Kenya with an amazing foundation called World Teacher Aid.

World Teacher Aid is a charity committed to providing access to education to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)  by renovating and constructing schools in direct cooperation with local communities who have been displaced by political violence in Kenya.

So many of you helped make this possible by generously participating in my donation raffle last year. We were able to raise over $8,000 to help fund an arts and crafts classroom, which will be named Flourish & Thrive (named aptly after the jewelry academy I founded 5 years ago).

Since I partnered on this project with friends in my Entrepreneurial Mastermind Group on this project, we were so excited to leave for Kenya this month, but unfortunately due to political unrest and violence related to the national elections…

Our trip to Kenya was postponed!

Good News! I’ll still be going to visit the school. The trip has been rescheduled for Summer 2018 and we are thrilled to continue helping World Teacher Aid with the school!

The Flourish & Thrive “arts & crafts” room will be a part of Sun Marco, the 10th school built by World Teacher Aid. The school will accommodate about 400 primary students and will be opening January 2018 for the new school term.
