Dresses as Jewelry? My Fave Looks from the Golden Globes 2014

goldenglobesSo what do you think? Can a dress pass as jewelry?

I was in LOVE with some of the ensembles at the Golden Globes this year! Usually I’m focused on the jewelry, but this year I couldn’t help but focus on the sparkly dresses.

It seemed like so many of the stars had either ornamental sparkly pinnings on their gowns ala Kerry Washington and Julia Roberts, or it was just full boar bedazzling like the Tina and Amy duo.

Just for funsies, I thought I would curate some of my favorite jewels, oh I mean gowns (and the stars who wore them), from the Golden Globes this year.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

Amy and Tina

The two longtime friends and partners in comedy went through multiple dress changes throughout the evening but Tina and Amy stuck with a single designer, Carolina Herrera and Stella McCartney, respectively.

I loved, not only the way the dresses, fit but the gorgeous bejeweled element on the side.

Plus these ladies are hilarious, so what’s not to love?!

Zooey Deschanel

Zoeey rocked a frou-frou look dawned in a gold Oscar De La Renta dress, maintaining her class and elegance with simple accessories.

Not only and am I obsessed with the New Girl, but I just love ZD

I thought her classy beaded coverlet was gorgeous and very reminiscent of pearls.

Michelle Dockery

Michelle Dockery also chose an overflowing Oscar De La Renta dress with gold accents.

Way to bring Downton Abbey with a modern twist to the red carpet. Looks like lady mary is coming out of mourning.

I loved the gold flecks and bits sprinkled on this dress. It reminds me of hammered gold.

Julianna Margulies

Julianna Margulies chose to wear a black with gold accents dress from Parisien designer, Andrew Gn.

That Dress (and those earrings) were one of my favorites of the night. Maybe I have a special spot in my heart for Julianna (one day she saved me from losing my iPad at the gym–no joke) but I really loved this look.

The coral reefs on the dress remind me not only of nature but of the jewelry that I’ve designed over the years.

Plus she looks hot even running on the treadmill.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett kept it simple and elegant, as always, in a black Armani dress.

Cate’s dress was gorgeous and I loved her earrings. While Cate’s dress might not have been so embellished like some of the above, I loved the lace details and the back of the dress.

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie chose a daringly bold Gucci dress reminiscent of a modern Marilyn Monroe.

I loved the detail and the fit of that dress on her…

In the comments below, tell me: Which dresses were YOUR favorites?

I’d love to design something inspired by these gowns. Pop on over here and let’s start a convo.
