A Puzzling Engagement (Ring) Story
Summer is a constant reminder of all things blue… light blue water and serious blue skies. Dark blue skies filled with stars (if you aren’t in the city).
And I’m seriously sad that summer vacation season is somewhat coming to an end. What about you?
Which reminds me that before summer comes Spring (which is one of my busiest seasons designing custom engagement rings.)
At least here in NYC, there are so many summer weddings.
That’s why, when I was commissioned in the Spring by Matty and Zvi to design an intricate engagement ring…I was all in.
(Of course I was! Designing rings is one of my favorite things in the world).
Now the design was totally up my design alley: diamonds, sapphires, floral motif and platinum. Gorgeous.
My personal fave is designing with unusual center stones, like this very pretty light blue sapphire.
Now I love the challenge of making the design work…so after we had finalized the engagement ring design, Matty threw curveball at me. She wanted a wedding band that nested into the design!
Which I loved the idea of…
And an added layer: there could be no notches or holes because of her faith and the symbolism of the ring.
So we worked it out. The band would nest underneath the stone of ring and fit between the two other bands.
Here’s a snap of the initial design sketches for this ring in comparison to the final product…
The final result was just lovely…
In fact, her text to me said it all.
I’m never taking it off!
(Well, hopefully for cleaning and rock climbing)…
Rock climbing aside…I’d love to design a ring exclusively for YOU!
