Oscars 2013: A Night of Shiny, Shiny Stars

Finally, my favorite awards night of the year, the Oscars! And as predicted, the name of the game was classic Hollywood glamour. I just can’t get enough of elegant up-dos and gorgeous flowing gowns (J-Law looked like a princess)! Stylists know that, more than any other night, grace, poise, and sophistication are a must at the Academy Awards. Of course, it was the jewelry that caught my eye. The ladies who shined the brightest on Sunday night’s Red Carpet were shimmering in gorgeous diamonds and gold. These were my favorites.

Jessica Chastain

Best Actress Nominee Jessica Chastain complimented her creamy coloring with vintage diamonds. These stunning Harry Winston 1969 collection earrings reminded the actress of the ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ kind of Hollywood glam. Who wouldn’t want to feel like Mariyln for her Red Carpet appearance?

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway, winner of the Best Supporting Actress award, looked especially classic with her high, square neckline and gorgeous backwards necklace. The diamonds around her neck are Tiffany & Co. from the 2013 Blue Book Collection – and boy are they eye-catching! Along with a simple and elegant hairstyle, Ms. Hathaway looked like total perfection on stage Sunday night. You’ve come a long way since Princess Diaries, Anne!

Samantha Barks

There to perform on stage with the rest of the Les Mis ensemble, Samantha Barks stood out in her bold Forevermark diamond and gold sunburst necklace. With a plunging (really) neckline, Samantha had some room for a statement piece. Not only do I like the design of this necklace, but I also love the idea – holding the sun right next to your heart. Sam had a little yogic love goin’ on Sunday night!

Jennifer Lawrence

Princess of the evening and Best Lead Actress winner, Jennifer Lawrence wore her royalty well with a long and delicate Chopard White Gold necklace. Even with her stumble, Jennifer was the essence of beauty and grace at the Oscars. The necklace was the perfect compliment to her cake-like gown. Also, did someone give Jen and Anne the secret to winning? It must be talent AND chic backwards necklaces!

Nicole Kidman

The ever-elegant Nicole Kidman was presenting Sunday night, and although she was not up for an award, she still managed to steal the show. My favorite jewels of the evening were Nicole’s gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz 19th century gold and black enamel pendant earrings. Paired with a loose up-do and matching gold and black gown, Ms. Kidman looked like an Oscar herself. The intricate earrings were both a classic and statement piece. Brava, Nicole, Brava!

Unfortunately, this is the end of award season, so no more Red Carpet glam-watching for a while. Can’t wait to see how they top it next year!
